the sea (ocean floor) is the most common symbol of the unconscious, and into this unconscious we must descend if we are to find the truth.

 

the light will be found in the darkness.

 

in order to achieve psychological totality, we must be exposed to "all that happens in heaven and earth", or - both the personal AND the collective unconscious.
